BlindPay, the [Y Combinator-backed](https://www.ycombinator.com/companies/blindpay) stablecoin API for global payments, has announced an investment from [Circle Ventures](https://www.circle.com/circle-ventures), the corporate venture arm of Circle Internet Group, Inc. (NYSE: CRCL). The investment accelerates the development of our stablecoin infrastructure for businesses and platforms that move money across borders.

With this momentum, BlindPay aims to grow its network of partners, including financial institutions and digital platforms, into a global network of fast, secure, and affordable transfers powered by stablecoins such as [USDC](/resources/more/what-is-usdc).

> "Stablecoins are not just faster or cheaper. They are the only technology that democratizes global finance. Circle Ventures' support helps us move faster toward a world where any company, in any country, can offer financial services that were never possible before, without ever having to think about the blockchain underneath."

## Why are stablecoins the connection between payment systems?

Every country solved domestic payments. Pix works brilliantly, but it stops at Brazil's border. UPI stops at India's. SPEI stops at Mexico's. ACH stops at the United States'. Nobody solved the connection between them.

Stablecoins are that connection: a shared settlement layer that makes these systems interoperable in real time. And the shift is no longer theoretical. Stablecoin on-chain volume [surpassed the ACH network in February 2026](https://www.forbes.com/sites/digital-assets/2026/07/19/stablecoin-on-chain-volume-reaching-7-trillion-surpassing-ach-network/), and traditional software and financial companies have already started building on them.

The argument is not speed or price. It is architecture. Every defect of traditional cross-border rails maps to a structural advantage of stablecoin settlement:

| Traditional cross-border rails | Stablecoin infrastructure |
| ------------------------------ | ------------------------- |
| Correspondent banks, clearing systems, and FX providers in the chain | Direct digital settlement with fewer intermediaries |
| Capital trapped in pre-funded nostro and vostro accounts | Liquidity managed digitally, far less trapped capital |
| Liquidity split by jurisdiction | One common settlement asset across markets |
| Banking hours, weekends, and holidays | Settlement 24/7 |
| Multiple ledgers and manual exception handling | One programmable transaction record |

Trapped capital and weekend-dead settlement are CFO problems, not crypto problems. We go deeper on this in [stablecoin APIs vs traditional cross-border rails](/resources/more/stablecoin-api-vs-traditional-cross-border-rails).

## What does democratizing global finance actually mean?

Payments are only the first layer. Once countries share a settlement layer, every financial product tied to every currency becomes distributable everywhere at the same time: treasury, payments, cards, credit, investments.

The world we imagine is a single API that offers government treasury bonds from one country to someone on the other side of the world, sells US stock options to someone in the Philippines, issues stablecoin cards to someone in Bolivia, and lets a bank in Singapore lend to someone in Greece.

That sounds impossible today. A few years ago, so did USD virtual accounts powered by stablecoins, cards linked to stablecoin balances, and earning yield just by holding a digital dollar. All of those exist now. The next step is connecting not two countries, but 10, 50, and 100 of them to the same system.

## Why should the blockchain be invisible?

Investors spent billions trying to migrate the world on-chain, and it didn't work. Around [70% of users drop off during crypto wallet onboarding](https://stripe.com/en-it/resources/more/crypto-onboarding-best-practices). Your friends and family will never be convinced to download a crypto wallet, and they will never care about smart contracts or branded blockchains.

They don't need to. Customers don't want to see how money was moved, they want to know it arrived. They don't care where yield comes from, they care about the rate and the risk. They don't care who the card issuer is, they care about the benefits.

That is why we build BlindPay so the blockchain disappears. A business calls a REST API, opens a [virtual account](https://blindpay.com/virtual-accounts), and pays out in local currency. It never picks a chain, holds a private key, or pre-funds a foreign bank account. We wrote more about this in [stablecoin for the ordinary](/blog/stablecoin-for-the-ordinary).

Early adopters are already here. The real question is: who is taking care of the other 99% of companies worldwide that have never touched stablecoins? A healthcare provider, a construction company, or a school moving money across borders should get the benefits without learning a single word of crypto jargon.

## Why does USDC fit as the backbone?

For stablecoins to become invisible infrastructure, the settlement asset underneath has to be one that banks, regulators, and finance teams already trust. USDC is fully reserved, redeemable one to one for U.S. dollars, and supported by regulated institutions around the world, which makes it a natural default for the dollar leg of a global payment network.

Having Circle Ventures as an investor aligns us even more closely with the ecosystem our customers already rely on.

## What comes next?

With Circle Ventures' support, we will keep investing in three areas:

1. **More countries.** Connecting more domestic payment systems to the same API, so a customer integrates once and reaches the world.
2. **More products.** Going beyond payments into the financial services stablecoins make global from day one.
3. **Better infrastructure.** Faster settlement, deeper liquidity, [compliance](https://blindpay.com/compliance) that delivers the same experience across jurisdictions, and developer tooling like our [CLI](/blog/cli), [MCP server](/blog/mcp), and [agent skills](/blog/agent-skills).

This is not a short-term game. It will take more than a decade, and that is exactly why we are excited. Thank you to the Circle Ventures team for backing us, and to every customer and partner building with us.
