  Add the BlindPay MCP server to VS Code with one click or .vscode/mcp.json,
  sign in over OAuth, and run payouts and quotes from Copilot Chat.
---

The BlindPay [MCP server](/docs/mcp) lets [VS Code](https://code.visualstudio.com) work with your BlindPay account from chat: quote payouts, create customers, issue virtual accounts, and check transaction status in plain English. You sign in with your BlindPay account when the server starts, so no API key goes into your config.

## Server URL

`https://mcp.blindpay.com/mcp`

To let the agent read without changing anything, use `https://mcp.blindpay.com/mcp/readonly` instead.

## Quick install

[Add BlindPay to VS Code](https://vscode.dev/redirect/mcp/install?name=blindpay\&config=%7B%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fmcp.blindpay.com%2Fmcp%22%7D) opens VS Code with the server filled in.

## Manual setup

Create `.vscode/mcp.json` in your project:

```json [.vscode/mcp.json]
{
  "servers": {
    "blindpay": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.blindpay.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

Start the `blindpay` server, then sign in with your BlindPay account and pick the instance the agent may use.

To run the server locally with an API key instead:

```json [.vscode/mcp.json]
{
  "servers": {
    "blindpay": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@blindpay/mcp"],
      "env": {
        "BLINDPAY_API_KEY": "your-api-key",
        "BLINDPAY_INSTANCE_ID": "your-instance-id"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

Keep `.vscode/mcp.json` out of version control if it holds a live key.

## Use it

Open chat in agent mode, check that the BlindPay tools are on in the tools picker, then ask:

```text [Chat prompt]
Use the BlindPay tools to create a payout quote for 1000 USDC to a USD ACH
bank account. Show me the fees and rate, then execute after I confirm.
```
