BlindPay receives its first U.S. state Money Transmitter License from New Jersey

We're excited to announce that Blind Pay, LLC has received approval for its first U.S. state Money Transmitter License (MTL) from the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, marking an important milestone in BlindPay's regulatory journey.

With 25 MTL applications submitted across the United States, this first approval represents a significant step in our long-term U.S. expansion strategy.

For our team, it reflects months of preparation, regulatory engagement, and hard work toward building trusted and compliant global payment infrastructure.

An important step in our regulatory journey

Securing our first MTL approval is an important achievement and part of our broader commitment to establishing a strong regulatory foundation in the United States.

The licensing process requires considerable investment in governance, compliance programs, financial controls, risk management, and operational readiness. These are essential foundations for building a sustainable payments business.

As we progress through our remaining applications, we continue to engage closely with regulatory authorities, addressing jurisdiction-specific requirements and supporting their independent review processes. You can follow the status of every application on our licenses page, and verify our registration on NMLS Consumer Access (NMLS ID #2745309).

A note from our Founder & CEO

"Every country solved domestic payments, but nobody solved the connection between them. We started BlindPay because we believe stablecoins are that connection, and that one day every company in the world will run on them, most without ever knowing it.

Imagine a person in Japan buying Brazilian treasury bonds, someone in the Philippines investing in Apple stock, or a bank in Singapore lending money to someone in Germany. That will only be possible at scale with stablecoins.

To make stablecoins mainstream, we need to combine three things: legal, design, and traditional sales. Legal to make companies comfortable, design to make stablecoins invisible, and sales to speak the language traditional businesses already speak.

Licensing is at the heart of the legal piece, which is why it has been part of our plan since day one. Receiving our first MTL approval is a concrete step toward that, and I'm incredibly proud of the team and the work that went into it.

This is not a short-term game. It will take more than a decade, and that is exactly why we are excited. We're just getting started."

A note from our Chief Compliance Officer

"Having spent many years working across regulated financial services and payments, I know how much work and responsibility goes into securing regulatory approvals.

But what makes this milestone particularly special to me is how this journey started.

When I first met Bernardo, Joao, and Gus, one thing was clear from our very first conversation: they wanted compliance to be the backbone of the infrastructure we were building, not something we would add later.

They believed in building a first-class compliance program from day one, with securing our own licenses as a key milestone in that vision.

Their trust, commitment, and support throughout this journey made a real difference. We wouldn't have reached this milestone without them.

I'm genuinely proud of what we've achieved together and grateful to our entire team, advisors, and partners who have supported us throughout the process. I also want to thank the regulators for their time, engagement, and thorough review.

Of course, getting an approval is one milestone. Maintaining strong compliance standards and meeting our ongoing regulatory obligations is equally important.

Our focus now is on progressing the remaining applications while continuing to strengthen our compliance program as BlindPay grows.

This is a great achievement for all of us, and there's a lot more ahead."

Nauman Abuzar, Chief Compliance Officer, BlindPay

Looking ahead

Our U.S. licensing strategy remains a key priority as we continue building and expanding BlindPay's global payment infrastructure.

We look forward to sharing further milestones as our applications progress through their respective regulatory reviews.

Our commitment remains the same: building reliable payment infrastructure supported by strong compliance standards and trusted financial partnerships.

About BlindPay

BlindPay is a stablecoin-powered payment infrastructure company backed by Y Combinator (W25), making it easier for businesses to move money globally.

Through a single API, BlindPay connects stablecoins with local payment rails, enabling businesses and developers to integrate cross-border payments without managing the complexity of blockchain infrastructure.

Our platform brings together global payins and payouts, virtual accounts, fiat-to-stablecoin conversion, and integrated compliance capabilities, including customer verification and risk monitoring.

Our goal is simple: make moving money globally as easy as integrating an API.

We believe stablecoins can make global payments more efficient and accessible, supported by the regulatory foundations, risk management practices, and financial partnerships required for long-term growth.
